The humans who lived on the land we now know as Seattle were known by many names. Duwamish, Suquamish, Skykomish, & Salish to name a few. Their culture revolved around the Western Red Cedar Tree & the runs of migrating salmon. Not to mention their art. The Duwamish are currently the largest group of Native people NOT recognized as a tribe by the United States Federal Government.
