50 Things to do in Seattle – #41

#41 – Century Link Field and Events Center

#41 – @centurylink_field

UPDATE!!! – The day after writing this post, Century Link Field announced that it would be changing its name to Lumen Field!!! I’m not a huge fan of the new name but so long as my Seahawks continue to play here, I’ll call it whatever they want to call it!

Century Link Field is a stop on just about every Totally Seattle Tour. It is the home of the @seattlesounders_ @xfldragons & @seahawks and is one of the greatest and loudest (if not THE loudest) stadiums in the world. Construction began in 2000 after the infamous Kingdome was imploded and it hosted its first event in 2002. The stadium holds around 70,000 screaming fans depending on the type of event taking place. It was the site of the #beastquake run in the 2010 playoff game where Marshawn Lynch broke a 67-yard TD run to essentially seal a Seahawks playoff victory. The excitement and rumbling from the crowd registered seismic activity.

No matter what type of event you see here, it is always an exciting experience primarily due to the passion of the fans who attend each event. Whether a sports fan or not, we almost always drive by this world class stadium on Totally Seattle Private city tours to provide a glimpse into the incredible facility right in the heart of the city.
